How do you mark your ball and fix your ball mark?

Marking your ball on the green allows you to pick it up and clean it without penalty. It also moves your ball out of the way for golfers putting first. The image on page 8 clearly shows you how to place your marker behind the ball before you pick it up. Just reverse this process to replace your ball back to its original spot.

When your ball lands on a green from a distant shot, it usually creates a hole in the surface of the green. Each golfer should fix this hole with a tee or ball mark repair tool. The image shows how to do this. If everyone fixes their ball mark, the greens will always be smoother to putt on.
